A survey of 300 cloud engineering professionals found that 36% of organizations have leaked or breached cloud security data in the last 12 months. Eight out of ten people are concerned that they are vulnerable to big cloud data breaches, and %%% people say the problem will get worse or stay the same next year. These findings are part of the State Cloud Security Cloud Security 2021 report, produced by Fugu and Sonatype.
As the cloud atmosphere increases, cloud teams say the risks – and the challenges and costs of addressing them – are increasing. There are too many APIs and interfaces to manage the primary causes of cloud misalignment, cited by 32%, 31% cited lack of control and oversight, 27% cited lack of policy awareness, and 32% cited team negligence. 21% are not checking infrastructure as a code (IAC) before deployment, and 20% are not adequately monitoring their cloud environment.
Responsibility to prevent and eliminate vulnerabilities in cloud illegality Cloud security teams are struggling with many familiar security issues, including false positives (cited by 27%), warning fatigue (21%) and human error (38%). Is. 36% cite cloud security professionals having difficulty hiring and retaining, and 35% cite challenges with training. Half say their teams invest 50+ engineering hours per week in IAC security, and the same investment would go into cloud runtime security.
When asked what they need to manage cloud security more effectively, 96% say it would be worthwhile to have a set of policies that work for both IAC and cloud runtime. 47% say they need better visibility in their cloud environment, and 43% say better compliance aud dating and reporting auto tameness will help.
Fugu partnered with Sonatype to survey 300 DevOps, cloud and security engineers on cloud security risks, challenges and organizational performance. Survey The online survey was conducted by Propeller Insights.
