What is Podwalk App
Podwalk was a smartphone app that allowed users to listen to audio recordings with parts that were linked to locations. It advertises itself as “the site-specific podcast player.” The app is only accessible on iOS.
When Aarhus Theater produces digital performing arts, you may experience performing arts outside of the stage space. The software is free to download, but individual excursions cost a nominal price.
The app was introduced in November 2015 as part of the worldwide competition Creative Business Cup, where it placed second.
Podwalk may be used to create location-based podcasts such as radio documentaries or plays at specific locations. It may also be used to replace traditional audio tours at museums and tourist destinations. As of February 2016, it includes information from renowned cultural organisations such as the Ibsen Museet, the National Gallery of Denmark, and the Danish Architecture Centre.
The app utilises GPS to locate the audio outside and iBeacon technology to navigate in areas with low GPS signal or for increased precision.
Podwalk was designed by designer smund Sollihgda, who previously worked on the comparable project Recho, a software that allows anybody to record audio samples that are connected to destinations using GPS coordinates.
